YOUNG MEN’S SHELTER

Not everyone was raised in the same house with the same advantages…..so it isn’t always a level playing field. That’s why places like the Young Men’s Shelter exist. We went in not knowing what to expect, and walked away realizing there are truly special people in this world. We met with Yoletta who ran us through how the shelter works, and we talked about how we could help with Suited for Success. The shelters helps young men between the ages of 16 and 20. They need to be either in school or working to stay there….and they have some strong rules they have to follow. We walked away realizing two things…..everyone can make a difference and everyone deserves a chance…..with Suited for Success you are making sure both happen…….one suit ,one tie,one pair of dress shoes at a time……

This is to express my appreciation for the program Suited for Success in partnership with Junk Your Funk, United Way and LASI World Skills. This is a big opportunity to help the community to dress properly and feel confident when going for interviews. I am very sure that this suit will be very helpful during my job search.

Also, I would like to thank your team that is very knowledgeable and passionate on the job they are doing, which is helping people to get the suit that fits better for them.

Nneka you already have a gift in making people to feel good about themselves and with this program you are aiming for a gold medal.

Thank you very much for all the help that you have giving me through out your program.

Client Testimonial

I believe I have no words to properly thank the existence of the “Suited for success program” through Junk Your Funk.

I would like you to please transmit my gratefulness to all the partners in this program.

I am very pleased with the suit and the bag I received last Friday. I already used them yesterday. It was definitely a different feeling than in previous networking events where I didn’t feel sure about what I was wearing. This time I did not have that stress, and I could focus all my concerns on the topics of the profession. It was actually a successful experience, the person I met is already looking for funding to hire me.

I also would like to thank you and the two wonderful ladies that help you assisting me last Friday. You all created a very nice atmosphere where I felt very comfortable. I felt your professionalism, sympathy, friendliness and most of all your desire to help me choosing the proper suit and bag for me.

I would like to encourage you to keep up this nice program and I hope that many will benefit from this as I did.

Once again, thank you very much and I wish you lot of success in this program!

I am a newcomer to Canada and a client of Suited for Success.

Last week I just had the opportunity to get a very nice business suit and a handbag from Suited for Success which I already used to go to an Informational Interview at United Way . There I met with the Marketing Director and got a very good response. She has already e-mailed me twice on professional topics.

The Job Match Specialist at LASI World Skills was also very professional and helped me select the attire that best fitted my needs regarding size, color and appearance.

I really appreciate the help I’ve received and would love to collaborate in any way you might need.

Thank you very much and my best wishes for the Program.

I felt like I was in Paris. A cool quiet evening at the shop and a beautiful women peeks her head in. She has brought the bags of donations as promised. She is wearing a little pastel beret and has a wonderful French accent. She has brought the donations as promised. Beautiful silk blouse and pants that will be perfect for suiting someone for success.

A gentlemen said he would drop them by …. and he did … two fantastic suits. They will be greatly appreciated by someone trying to make a change in their life. A kind thought … who knows how great an impact it will have.

A beautiful floral skirt and black top dropped off … perfect for a interview. A kind thought will change someones future.

Two more incredible men’s suits to add to inventory.

Ranger, the second cutest dog in the world (sorry my little Half Pint is #1) came in to the shop for his dog treats. He is a happy little visitor that makes me smile. Today he brought his proud owners that were sweet enough to donate more to the “Suited For Success” program. The other day they came with two pairs of winter boots, and today it was sweaters and a shirt. Kind hearts .

What an incredible day. People stopping by and donating their suits for Suited for Success. The suits Henri is holding in the picture, were dropped off by a couple of young gentlemen, that had said they would bring them by.

Two other gentlemen dropped a bunch off. Kind hearts.

We received a bunch of calls today from people saying they will be doing suit drives at work. A tie drive is great as well.

People have also been calling and asking what other things we need. We are working to create a complete outfit for the interview, so business shoes, purses, skirts, pants and ties are greatly appreciated.

Another huge thanks to Bruce Hillary at Hillary Cleaners. He is dry cleaning the suits, so the Suited for Success experience is that extra bit special. A beautiful sparkling clean suit with some added pieces.

We completed the count for what was received by Friday (Kindness Week). We still have people dropping in, and are receiving more items daily. We are going to ask people to donate ties, purses and belts over the next few weeks.
Hopefully a generous supplier will come through for nylons, dress socks and shoes.

Suited for Success - Everyone has been so generous with donations for Suited for Success but we were a little short on ties. We posted a note on the blackboard outside the store asking for donations. What a great surprise to find a bag hanging on the store door today with 10 ties:) 10 more opportunities to suit someone for success. Thank you to our mystery donor: Kind Heart

Suited for Success – We got a call from Community Housing saying they were going to collect some itemes for Suited for Success. It was awesome to see a vehicle(looked like a Santa Fe) pull up with the back jam packed with stuff All kinds of great pieces to put toward that total outfit for an interview that may change someones life.
